Húnwut means “bear” in the Luiseño language. Growing up on the Soboba Indian Reservation, Joe Burton was called húnwut by elders who recognized his size, strength, and presence on the basketball court.
Basketball carried Joe around the world through a 13-year professional career. Hunwut Clothing carries those roots forward through apparel built around culture, family, discipline, resilience, and legacy.
Started in 2019, Hunwut is more than a logo or a shirt. It is a reminder to know where you come from, stand strong in who you are, and leave something meaningful for the next generation.
